Intentional Architecture designs custom homes, renovations, and additions throughout Louisville with a focus on livability, material quality, durability, and long-term performance.

Our work ranges from refined contemporary homes to site-driven residences shaped by views, topography, neighborhood context, and the realities of Colorado's climate.

We bring local experience, principal-level involvement, and a design process focused on creating homes that feel considered, comfortable, and built for the long term.

01 Louisville Architecture

Thoughtful residential design
shaped by place.

Louisville offers a wide range of residential conditions, from the compact fabric of Old Town to established neighborhoods, larger custom-home sites, and homes bordering parks and open space.

Good design here requires more than choosing a style. It means understanding how a home relates to its site, neighboring properties, views, daylight, local review requirements, energy performance, and Colorado's changing climate.

Our work in Louisville focuses on bringing those considerations together into homes that feel coherent, comfortable, durable, and deeply connected to the way their owners want to live.

Completed custom home in Louisville, Colorado, featuring stone, warm wood siding, modern steel detailing, and a vaulted entry.
Custom Home · Louisville, Colorado

Enclave Residence

A completed custom home designed around refined everyday living, generous interior volume, strong indoor-outdoor connections, and long-term performance.

Rugged stone, warm wood siding, and modern steel create a restrained exterior composition with subtle European influences. At the entry, a single steel portal frame defines the grand vaulted central volume and draws visitors into and through the home toward a large rear deck perched above the park below, with long views across the plains to the east.

Inside, abundant natural light, generous ceiling heights, and carefully layered materials create a home that feels both substantial and comfortable.

The project was designed around ambitious performance goals, including a high-performance building envelope, triple-glazed windows, and net-zero-energy goals. Enclave Residence was featured on the 2024 Green Home Tour presented by the Colorado Green Building Guild.

Contemporary Hillside House in Louisville, Colorado, designed around topography, views, natural light, and outdoor living.
Custom Home · Louisville, Colorado

Hillside House

A site-driven custom residence shaped by topography, privacy, natural light, and long views. Rather than treating the slope as a limitation, the design uses changes in elevation to create a progression of privacy and increasingly expansive views as the home moves upward.

A central tree-filled atrium brings daylight and landscape into the heart of the house, while large areas of glazing strengthen the connection between interior living spaces and the outdoors. The project combines contemporary architecture with a high-performance envelope, resilience, and carefully considered material choices.

03 Additional Louisville Experience

Experience across custom homes, renovations,

Our Louisville work extends beyond the two featured projects above.

Each project has contributed to a deeper understanding of Louisville's residential conditions, neighborhood contexts, and design opportunities.

Established Neighborhood Renovations + Additions

Renovation & Addition · Louisville

Our Louisville work also includes additions and whole-home improvements to existing residences, where the design challenge often involves improving layout, daylight, energy performance, resilience, and long-term flexibility without losing what already works.

Old Town Louisville

Old Town · Louisville

Our work also extends into Old Town Louisville, where smaller lots, existing neighborhood fabric, zoning constraints, accessory dwelling opportunities, and contextual design require a more careful site-specific approach.

04 Resilience

Design lessons shaped by
the Marshall Fire.

The Marshall Fire permanently changed how many Front Range homeowners think about resilience. Our work in and around Louisville incorporates those lessons into the design process from the beginning.

This includes ignition-resistant exterior materials, careful attention to roofs, eaves, vents, and decks, defensible-space considerations, high-performance building envelopes, all-electric systems, indoor air quality, comfort during extreme weather, long-term energy performance, and durable material choices.

The goal is not to design homes that feel defensive. It is to create beautiful, comfortable, durable homes that are better prepared for the realities of Colorado's climate.

05 What We Design

Residential architecture for a
range of Louisville projects.

Custom Homes

Site-specific homes designed around the way you live, the character of the property, views, daylight, comfort, durability, and long-term performance.

Major Renovations

Thoughtful transformation of existing homes through improved layouts, daylight, energy performance, materials, and connections to the outdoors.

Additions

New space designed to feel intentional and integrated rather than simply attached to the existing house.

ADUs

Accessory dwelling units and flexible secondary spaces designed around site constraints, privacy, neighborhood context, and long-term use.

High-Performance Design

Energy efficiency, building-envelope quality, comfort, indoor air quality, durability, and resilience integrated into the architecture from the beginning.

06 Local Experience

Why work with an architect experienced
in Louisville?

Design quality matters, but so does understanding how projects actually move through design, review, permitting, and construction.

Our Louisville experience helps us anticipate issues earlier, coordinate more effectively, and guide clients through decisions involving zoning and site constraints, neighborhood context, energy code requirements, wildfire-related material considerations, design review where applicable, additions and existing conditions, accessory dwelling opportunities, and permitting and consultant coordination.

The value is not simply knowing the rules. It is knowing how to incorporate them into the design process without allowing them to overwhelm the architecture.

07 Old Town + Beyond

Old Town Louisville
and beyond.

Louisville is not one architectural condition.

Old Town calls for sensitivity to existing scale, lot patterns, neighborhood character, and the relationship between new and existing homes. Elsewhere in the city, projects may be shaped more strongly by larger sites, open-space edges, views, topography, or established neighborhood conditions.

Our approach changes with the site. The goal remains the same: create a home that belongs where it is, supports the way its owners live, and performs well for decades.

08 Our Approach

Design that brings the
big picture together.

A successful home is not defined by any single feature.

Architecture, layout, views, daylight, performance, durability, materials, budget, and everyday life all influence one another. Our role is to help clients understand those relationships early, make good decisions with confidence, and turn competing priorities into a coherent design.
